Dr. Reid was born in Portland, Oregon and raised in Colorado. He graduated with honors from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 1967.
He was an intern and then resident at the New York Hospital/Memorial Cancer Hospital program associated with Cornell University. He served the US Navy from 1969-71.
In 1972, Dr. Reid was certified in the specialty of Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
He joined the faculty of the University of Virginia in 1972. Within two years, he had been appointed Chief of the Division of General Medicine. He served in that position for 10 years.
In 1984, Dr. Reid left his position at the University of Virginia to become President and CEO of Commonwealth Clinical Systems, Inc.
In 2001, Dr. Reid moved his family to Seattle. He has since been in clinical practice.
Dr. Reid is an Eagle Scout, holds the Silver Award in Exploring, is a Boettcher Scholar, a member of Alpha Omega Alpha (the medical honorary society), and a fellow of the American College of Physicians.
He loves aquatics, and is an avid skier.
